Sunset at Split Rock

Big Bend National Park, Texas

This is last light on the Sierra Del Carmen taken above my camp at Split Rock approximately 6.5 miles into the backcountry just off of the Marufo Vega Trail. There a quite a bit of flowers in the foreground, which are somewhat hard to see in this smaller version, but would look fantastic in a large print. Just over the other side of the hill in the middle of the picture lies the Rio Grande River. The Sierra Del Carmen are northern finger of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. This subrange is home to 446 species of birds, 3,600 species of insects, more than 1,500 plant species, and 75 mammals. Photo © copyright by Michael Greene.
