Weminuche Wilderness, Colorado

Corn lillies, also known as false hellebore are a poisonous plant located in the alpine environments of California, the Southwest, and Rocky Mountain regions. Properties of the plant are currently being used as experimental anti-cancer drugs. This particular image was captured on a wet, dreary late August evening as the plants were in different stages of color changes and saturated with water. Photo © copyright by Michael Greene.
